🌿 Church Council Update: Looking Ahead with Gratitude and Energy

The Council recently gathered for a thoughtful and forward-looking meeting as we prepare for our upcoming Annual Meeting on Sunday, June 7, immediately following worship in the sanctuary. Please mark your calendars to participate, when we’ll reflect on the many meaningful moments of the past year and ratify our slate of officers and committees for the coming year.

There is a lot happening in the life of the church! We’re especially excited for upcoming services and events, including Youth Sunday on June 14, as well as special seasonal worship opportunities throughout late spring and summer. On Thursday, June 25, church member Tara Dufour, creator of Curated Color and Style, will lead a fun boutique-style workshop to help participants discover how color can help them look and feel their best. We’re also continuing our collaboration with our neighbors at First Baptist and St. John’s Episcopal churches, bringing new energy and shared connection to the summer months – stay tuned for dates and information.

Recent community activities - like the sandwich-making event on May 4 - have been a wonderful reminder of the generosity and spirit that define our congregation. Thank you to everyone who participated! And don’t forget our Annual Yard Sale this Saturday, May 16, 8:30 AM to noon – please volunteer, bring your donations on Friday, or stop by to shop!

We also discussed updates on important projects involving the meetinghouse. Plans for improvements to the steeple and interior spaces are moving forward, helping ensure our building remains welcoming, safe, and ready to serve future generations. Finally, we want to express deep gratitude to the many leaders and volunteers who give their time and energy to First Parish. We’re grateful for the many ways our community continues to grow, serve, and connect, and we look forward to celebrating the past year together while looking ahead to what’s next. As roles evolve and new leaders step forward, we are thankful for the continued dedication and care that sustain our community.

• Join us at the Annual Meeting on June 7 to reflect, celebrate, and help shape the year ahead; church members are eligible to vote; ALL are welcome to come learn about First Parish and participate in discussion

• Volunteer for upcoming events and service projects, including future community outreach activities and participation in community events such as Westwood Pride on June 7

• Attend Youth Sunday on June 14 and support our young people as they lead worship

• Reach out to a council or ministry team member if you’re interested in getting more involved
