Holy Week is right around the corner, and we’re looking forward to sharing this meaningful season together. From palms and processions to quiet reflection and joyful celebration, there’s something for everyone throughout the week. Here’s a look at what’s coming up—and a quick update on Christian Education.
WHAT'S HAPPENING DURING HOLY WEEK
Palm Sunday, March 29th: We’ll kick things off with a palm procession beginning in the Gathering Space. If the weather cooperates, we’ll head outside before making our way into the sanctuary for worship. And yes—the palms are already here!
During worship, Sunday School will be led by Mary Masi‑Phelps and will include Holy Week stories and crafts to help kids connect with the season in hands‑on ways.
Maundy Thursday, April 2nd: Join us for a simple soup supper, followed by worship and a Tenebrae service. This service offers space to slow down, reflect, and remember Jesus’s final evening with his disciples.
Good Friday, April 3rd: Our Good Friday service will be held together with Norwood FCC and hosted by FCC. We’re grateful for this opportunity to worship alongside our wider faith community.
Easter Sunday April 5th: Easter morning will be full of joy and celebration! Worship will include Communion, and there will be quiet activities for kids in the back of the sanctuary so families can experience the service together. We’ll also enjoy the Hallelujah Chorus, followed by an Easter egg hunt and Easter Brunch—A great chance to celebrate and connect.
A QUICK CHRISTIAN EDUCATION UPDATE
Lately, our Sunday School classes have been focusing on Jesus’s actions—his miracles, his kindness, and the ways he welcomed people. It’s been a meaningful season of learning and conversation.
We could use a few more volunteers this spring to teach or help out. Even committing to one Sunday would be a big help! If you’re interested, please talk with Pastor JT, Juliana Belding, or Mary Masi‑Phelps.
And looking ahead to next fall, we’re excited to share that we’ve been able to budget for a part‑time Director of Youth Faith Formation for the coming program year. Pastor JT, Moderator Mary Masi‑Phelps, and Growing Faith Pillar Lead Juliana Belding recently met to start planning for the role, which we expect to post after Easter. We’re really looking forward to what this will mean for our youth and families.
We hope you’ll join us for Holy Week—whether for one service or the whole journey. However you’re able to participate, we’re glad you are part of this community.
