The image of the backpack at the top of this post is to recognize that summer involves packing and unpacking - for trips to be taken and at the end of those trips. God is with us on our adventures and is present with us as we prepare for a new program year. God is also speaking through the many and varied things happening at church during the week and on Sundays. There is a steady flow of people in and out of the church doing the work of the church.
This work includes:
our crane folding project. We have over 600 cranes, with more being folded daily
preparing to share our space with the Westwood Enrichment Hub
cleaning up and organizing our basement space
gardening to keep our outdoor space inviting
convening our new church council to talk about how our new structure will unfold and the expected and unexpected staffing changes that are happening
Christian Education meetings to prepare to bless backpacks that will be filled for the beginning of a new school year
Sunday worship that keeps us connected to each other as we think about call stories and eat good food
Sunday worship with our other local churches that introduce them to our Brunch Church and us to different styles of worship
September 8 we will re-gather in our own worship space to begin a new program year. Whether you have been here or traveled (or both), this summer, we look forward to both unpacking our summer backpacks, and re-packing for the year.
