Giving & Stewardship By all measures, our First Parish community is generous, giving, and supporting of the works of the church. Many give of their time and creative talents. Others have special gifts they can offer due to their job or profession. And yes, the church community is generous with its financial support. Offering is received as a regular part of worship each Sunday and contributes a great deal to the operation of the church. In 2004, approximately 8% of the annual budget will come from these "free offerings." Visitors can be assured that all offerings are put to good use. We appreciate all such gifts, small and large. Those that regularly attend First Parish worship are asked annually to make a monetary pledge of support to support the operation of the church the following year. Having the knowledge of committed pledges, the church can properly plan for the coming year and create a balanced budget within the church’s means. While visitor offering contributions are important, only the pledges give us confidence to move ahead with our impactful plans. Whether from members or committed non-members and friends, the pledges are all so important. Those that have pledged can meet their commitment using weekly envelopes, make other periodic payments, or even contribute appreciated securities. Some even pay the annual amount upfront at the start of the year. If personal circumstances change, pledges can be adjusted down or up. We only ask that you inform the church. While pledge cards are typically gathered in the late fall, pledges are welcome at any time in the year. Bequests and designated gifts from some very generous great friends of the church have had a great impact on First Parish over the years.
