Welcome to First Parish The roots of First Parish reach back before the establishment of Westwood as a distinct municipality. Denominationally affiliated with the United Church of Christ (UCC) and the Unitarian Universalist Association (UUA), we are most actively involved with the UCC. We view ourselves as a Christ-centered community, welcoming of all people, dedicated to the worship of God, and committed to the service of others. First Parishioners engage in dozens of local and global missions. You’ve seen us at the crossroads selling Pumpkins with a Purpose to benefit Hurricane Katrina victims last year. You've smiled at the grazing sheep each Advent, awaiting our annual Living Nativity. Whether for a community meeting, a church function, or because you are curious, you are welcome at First Parish. Our friendly green doors are open to all.
Pastoral Welcome
With
a glad heart we welcome you to the First Parish of Westwood, United Church.
We are a growing community; growing in size, growing in diversity,
growing in programming, and growing into deeper relationship with God and each
other. We celebrate
the new ideas, perspectives and challenges this growth provides, while never
forgetting the rich and solid traditions on which this Meeting House was built.
We endeavor to always be prayerfully attentive to God’s call for the
life and ministry of this parish, seeking to be a gathering of individuals who
respect, value and care for each other and the great world. You are
invited to deepen, find or create your own space in this community.
The following information is a beginning; let it be a signpost directing
you to places you would like to explore more deeply.
You are always encouraged to bring questions, discussion and ideas to May God bless this family of faith! Rev. Dr. David
